Gerardo Napolitano

Sheriff

Gerardo “Jerry Nap” Napolitano has been a resident of Union County for 45 years. He served the Newark community for 33 years and achieved multiple accomplishments while rising to the rank of Lieutenant. Jerry earned the reputation as being a unifying. supervisor between sworn members of the Newark police and the community he was entrusted to serve. He has received countless awards for excellence in police service, which have included the Excellent Police Duty Award, the Medal of Merit, two awards for Valor, and an award for Outstanding Achievement. He is also the recipient of numerous Command Citations and has received a resolution for outstanding investigation into international drug smuggling and undercover arrests in cooperation with the DEA. He worked in the Internal Affairs Unit investigating all aspects of police allegations. For several years he was assigned to the Executive Protection Unit. He has experience in the Emergency Bureau and was a commanding officer of the Firearms and Ordinance Section.

Carlos Santos

Commissioner

Carlos Santos is a father to four Daughters, married to his wife of twenty years. A lifelong resident of Union County. He owned two small businesses; he understands the demand and what it takes to run a business within a budget and meet harsh deadlines. He then became a Union Ironworker of seventeen years, who loved his Career, he was proud to lace up his boots every day and do his part to build America. Carlos is a member at the American Legion, A trustee at the Elks and a member at The Knights of Columbus. He is a district committee man in Mountainside and the Union County Director of Committee Development to the Republican Party. Carlos’ skills and abilities to overcome harsh demand and deadlines and ability to reach out to his community will make him a great asset to our commissioner board.

Brian Johdos

Commissioner

Brian Johdos is a lifelong resident to Scotch Plains. He is a small Business Owner/ Entrepreneur, with a BA in Criminology/ Psychology, MBA Finance. He has worked alongside local, state and federal law enforcement which enabled him to have a deeper appreciation for our emergency services. His vast business skills allow him to think creatively to conduct all his goals; and develop new policies to stay efficient. Throughout the time of being a business owner he garnered the ability to make tough decisions, and work under pressure, all while keeping his composure, these skills will make him a great asset for our Commissioner Board.

Cathy Jakositz

Commissioner

Cathy Jakositz Is running for a Republican seat as a Union County Commissioner. She is a lifelong resident of Union County. Who grew up in Union, moved to Cranford for 5 years and then settled in Mountainside for the past 28 years. Her profession as a teacher had brought her to run for the Mountainside Board of Education which She, had served on for almost 10 years. Her experience as a BOE member and the committees that she served on has provided her with invaluable experiences that she will bring to the Commissioner seat if elected.
